SUN   SABE: TBA
5 TUE    PBS: SHOW OF TREES, Club Business, a short update of the Chinese Festival which begins on Feb. 8th at the Chinese Cultural Center, and a raffle for a bus ticket for the California trip.  Tickets will be $5.00 each.  We must collect a total of $160 (the cost of a ticket) in order to have the raffle.  If we collect less than the $160, all money will be refunded and we will not have that raffle.  If you have paid for your bus ticket and then win the raffle, your full purchase price would be returned to you.  Hopefully everyone who plans on participating in the California trip will purchase a number of tickets.  This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the trip at a reduced price.

If you have not yet made your hotel reservations for the California trip, please do so and get your room reserved.

Following the raffle for the bus ticket, we will have a general raffle.  If you have items such as pots, plants, trees, books, tools, etc., that you are ready to part with please bring them in and we will have a general raffle.  The raffle is an excellent way for the club to raise a few dollars and for you to do a bit of house cleaning.  Please bring in items for this raffle.

If you are bringing a tree(s) for the Chinese Festival be sure it is ready to show.  No wires, or if you have wire on the tree be sure they are well placed, top soil is neat and clean, pot is clean and oiled and otherwise ready for display.  And if you have any, bring small accent plants to complement your tree.

This event is a great time to bring your Show Quality (trees trimmed, soil cleaned up, pots oiled) Bonsai for display.  You can bring your own stand or the Club has many to choose from.  This is a great time to volunteer to help set-up, take-down and work the booths at these shows.  Spending time in the booths is one of the best educational and learning experiences you can take advantage of and for no cost at all.  Talking to the Club Mentors and other Club Members with their years of experience is one of the best ways to advance and enhance your knowledge for the Art of Bonsai.  You all have a tree that can be ready for the Show - start working on it and join in the events.
